What is “Aliasing / Anti-Aliasing”?

“In signal processing and related disciplines, aliasing is an effect that causes different signals to become indistinguishable (or aliases of one another) when sampled. It also refers to the distortion or artifact that results when the signal reconstructed from samples is different from the original continuous signal.”
“In digital signal processing, spatial anti-aliasing is the technique of minimising the distortion artifacts known as aliasing when representing a high-resolution image at a lower resolution.”

What modes (aatype) are there for “TAAmbk”?
‘Eedi2’ Outdated.
‘Eedi3’ Works for heavy aliasing. Results in medium detail loss.
‘Nnedi3’ Works for minimal aliasing. Results in very minimal detail loss. Works for most cases. (like the one on the screen)
‘Nnedi3UpscaleSangNom’ Not tested. Probably very slow without many benefits.
‘Spline64NrSangNom’ Same as ‘Spline64SangNom’
‘Spline64SangNom’ Works for minimal-heavy aliasing. Results in medium-heavy detail loss. Best trade between quality and speed.
‘Eedi2SangNom’ Outdated.
‘Eedi3SangNom’ Works for heavy-very heavy aliasing. Results in heavy-very
heavy detail loss.
‘Nnedi3SangNom’ Works for medium-heavy aliasing. Results in heavy detail
loss.
‘PointSangNom’ Don’t use it.
